Job Summary

The Index and Structured Solutions team within Absa Corporate and Investment Bank is seeking an investment professional with strong background in Investment Banking Products – Listed or Unlisted investment product (Index; Exchange Traded Product; Fund Linked Products; Collective Investment Schemes. The candidate needs to demonstrate a strong analytical ability, have an acute understanding of an investment product lifecycle, and have had involvement with product development, implementation and maintenance of perpetual/termed products. The candidate will be required to maintain relationships with all Investors types (Institutions, Mancos, Collective Investment Schemes, Hedge Fund Managers, IFA’s and Retail intermediaries). Support and add value to the efforts of the Index and Structured Solutions Team within Absa Corporate and Investment Bank. The candidate will have a passion for Banking Product and be fully involved with the maintenance and support of these. The role would further entail a large degree of ownership around the development and maintenance of product collateral.

Job Description

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in investments and investment product or structured products. Solid understanding of various infrastructure functions and their interdependencies as they relate to possible client solutions. An in-depth knowledge of competitor products would be ideal. The ideal candidate will have an Honors degree in Investments/Investment Management or Math of Finance.

Education and Experience Required

• Formal tertiary qualification – Finance Degree with Honors in Investments/Inv Management/Math of Finance would be an added advantage.

• 5 years Investment industry experience; experience in dealing with Investors; Investment banking related product and Systems experience essential.

• 5 years working for Top tier Financial Services firm

Knowledge & Skills:

• Demonstrate strong understanding of financial markets and instruments, including HF’s and CIS’s, that can be leveraged with appropriate product

• Demonstrate a good degree of knowledge of the structured products – listed and OTC

• Demonstrate strong ability in dealing with systems, including the improvement of functionality as well as the configuration and the testing thereof

• Solid understanding of various infrastructure functions and their interdependencies as they relate to products and processes

• Knowledge of competitor products.

• Experience in one or more investment product and systems.

• Ability to work under pressure within tight deadlines

• Experience in financial product marketing
