About the Role

The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

This is a grant funded contractual position

Job Summary:


The primary responsibility of this position is to independently lead the development, writing, and submission of peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts arising from epidemiological and clinical research studies.


The incumbent will work closely with investigators and research teams to transform datasets and study findings into high-quality scientific publications for international peer-reviewed journals. This role requires expertise in quantitative analysis, scientific writing, interpretation of epidemiological and clinical data, and the ability to independently manage manuscripts from concept development through submission and revision.


Candidates with formal training and experience in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Clinical Research, Maternal and Child Health, Infectious Diseases, Nutrition, Environmental Health, or related quantitative population health disciplines will be preferred.


The successful candidate must have a strong publication record with multiple first-author peer-reviewed manuscripts and the ability to independently lead scientific writing projects with minimal supervision.


Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for:

  • independently leading the preparation, writing, editing, and submission of peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts

  • conducting statistical analyses and interpreting epidemiological and clinical research findings for publication purposes

  • working closely with investigators and research teams to develop publication plans and manuscript concepts

  • developing tables, figures, literature reviews, and scientific interpretations required for manuscript preparation

  • coordinating manuscript revisions and responses to journal reviewers and editors

  • leading the development and submission of 3–5 high-quality peer-reviewed manuscripts annually

  • conducting literature surveys, searching and retrieving relevant data, and utilizing a variety of research techniques and technologies

  • contributing directly to the development of research strategies for ongoing research projects

  • compiling information, data, and practice exemplars for publications

  • entering experimental data into appropriate software and conducting quantitative and qualitative data analyses.

  • preparing write-ups, manuscripts, and research proposals

  • supervising research volunteers and medical students involved in research projects

  • participating in introductory and advanced workshops for research capacity building under the supervision of the reporting manager

  • Requirements:

    You should have:

    • at least a master’s degree in public health, epidemiology & biostatistics, or any other relevant field (PhD preferred)

    • at least two years of experience in clinical, epidemiological, or public health research within an academic or research setting

    • demonstrated experience independently leading the writing, development, and submission of peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts

    • proven ability to analyze large clinical, cohort, surveillance, or population-based datasets and translate findings into publishable scientific outputs

    • strong track record of first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals

    • experience responding to peer-review comments and managing manuscript revisions will be preferred

    • excellent interpersonal skills and scientific writing ability

  • ability and willingness to mentor and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students

  • good project management skills

  • ability to represent the organization institution at national and international forums.
