The Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at the Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH, Karachi is committed to providing state-of-the-art clinical services to children. It imparts high-quality undergraduate, postgraduate, and subspecialty training along with providing excellent research opportunities. In addition to the general paediatric and subspecialty outpatient clinics, the inpatient set-up consists of a paediatric ward comprising of 84 beds including 15 bedded high dependency unit. There is an NICU comprising of 24 beds and a 12 bedded Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
The Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Senior Instructor/Assistant Professor (Paediatric Endocrinologist) in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will be expected to:
- have an independent consultant status and provide accessible, compassionate, ethical, and evidence-based care to paediatric patients with a multidisciplinary team, in an academic setting
- supervise paediatric endocrine fellows during their training
- participate in Paediatric and Pediatric endocrinology teaching of medical students and paediatric residents in paediatric endocrine rotation
- lead and coordinate the Patient Care Meetings with a focus on resident & fellow education in paediatric endocrinology
- organize different training courses and workshops, CME symposia pertaining to paediatric endocrinology
- undertake research related to pediatric endocrinology and develop research collaborations
- participate in the departmental and organizational performance improvement activities.
Requirements
You should have:
- completed structured postgraduate training in Paediatrics and FCPS, MRCP, American Board or equivalent qualifications in Paediatrics
- valid PMDC licensure
- two years’ fellowship (or equivalent) training in Paediatric endocrinology from a reputable institution
- additionally, candidates for Senior Instructor/Assistant Professor should have at least two years’/ five years’ experience as Senior Instructor/Assistant Professor or equivalent in a reputable institution and demonstrated scholarship through research, publications and/or contribution to education.
