About the Role

Overview

The Special Projects Department is seeking a Temple Facilities Assistant to be based at the Auckland New Zealand Temple. This is a casual position, reporting to the Temple Facilities Manager.

As a Temple Facilities Assistant, you will ensure temple ordinances are kept pure, recorded accurately, and made available to temple patrons by maintaining and operating the Temple to standards established by the First Presidency.

Responsibilities

  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone visiting the temple
  • Assist with general building maintenance tasks, including minor repairs while under the supervision of TFAs
  • Support the operation of basic building systems such as lighting, water testing, and temperature control
  • Carry out simple maintenance tasks in areas like kitchens, laundry, and bathrooms
  • Help monitor and maintain equipment, reporting any major issues to senior staff
  • Assist with routine checks of systems such as font water quality, lighting, and HVAC systems using the BMS
  • Support general upkeep, including housekeeping or other tasks as needed
  • Follow processes for recording maintenance work, routine checks and completed tasks

Requirements

  • Interest in, or currently studying, a trade or related field (e.g. electrical, plumbing, building, or engineering)
  • Practical experience in maintenance, trades, engineering or general handyman work is preferred
  • Understanding of tools and simple repair work
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions
  • Reliable, responsible, and able to work as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills are essential
