About the Role
SUMMARY:
The Principal, Drug Trends and Pipeline Strategy will be responsible for the development and execution of clinical strategies across multiple therapeutic areas to create market differentiating solutions and drive market adoption and growth. The Principal plays a key role in ensuring alignment and collaboration amongst cross-functional business units throughout the Supply Chain organization. The Principal will leverage analytical and clinical expertise, along with strong healthcare industry knowledge, to conduct strategic analyses, contribute to enterprise planning, and collaborate across clinical, product, operations, analytics, actuarial, and finance teams to identify new opportunities, expand capabilities, and strengthen competitive positioning, and support long-term strategic priorities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct external and internal reviews of the healthcare landscape (e.g., drug pipeline, emerging trends, regulatory activities, and competitive dynamics) to identify trends, opportunities, and gaps
Evaluate the performance of internal clinical strategies to determine enhancement
Synthesize internal and external insights into innovative and actionable recommendations that drive enterprise objectives, exceed clients’ needs, and enable differentiation in the marketplace
Utilize internal data and modeling to evaluate financial impacts of strategies
Build strategic partnerships with key stakeholders to achieve key initiatives and goals
Understand and partner with the Negotiator Team to negotiate contracting language to protect formulary and trend solutions from unintended conflicts across Commercial, Medicare, and product offerings that depend on those contracts
Monitor strategy performance and outcomes following implementation
Develop presentations and strategic updates that synthesize complex information for senior leadership
Establish and execute internal SOPs and playbooks for the team.
IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE A COMBINATION OF THE FOLLOWING:
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MHA, PharmD) preferred
Licensed pharmacist in good standing, if degree is Pharmacy
Minimum of 8 years with experience in healthcare strategy (e.g., pharmaceutical contracting, analytics, formulary development, product development, business development)
Experience using financial modeling tools, including experience in interpreting and reviewing financial modeling results to evaluate the financial impacts of contract changes
Strong financial acumen
Demonstrated expertise in clinical strategy and healthcare innovation
Knowledge of PBM industry, managed care, healthcare industry
Comfortable working with complex data sets and queries
Exceptional Strategic thinker with a track record of anticipating trends and translating insights into actionable plans.
Experience working effectively in a matrixed organization with strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
Strong detail orientation, organization, and management of multiple parallel projects with fluid timelines
Demonstrated initiative with commitment and ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
