About the Role
Position Overview
- The Compliance Officer ensures that all farm operations comply with local laws, company policies, and international certification standards, including GLOBALG.A.P, SMETA, LEAF Marque, and Rainforest Alliance. The role works closely with the HR Department, Health & Safety Supervisor, and all field and production teams to enforce compliance, maintain audit readiness, and support a culture of safety, quality, and operational integrity.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Regulatory & Certification Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable regulations, labor laws, and certification standards.
- Conduct regular internal audits and inspections to verify adherence across field, pack house, and office operations.
- Identify compliance gaps, risks, and non-conformities, and recommend corrective actions.
Policy, Procedures & Protocol Enforcement
- Develop, review, and maintain compliance-related policies, procedures, and SOPs.
- Ensure employees understand and adhere to company compliance protocols and best practices.
- Collaborate with HR and supervisors to enforce rules, discipline, and grievance management related to compliance.
Audit Readiness
- Maintain the farm’s continuous audit readiness.
- Prepare, review, and ensure accuracy of all required compliance documentation for internal and external audits.
- Support the Farm Operations Manager during certification and client audits and track closure of audit findings.
Training & Awareness
- Conduct regular toolbox talks, workshops, and training sessions on compliance, health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and compliance among all employees.
Reporting & Risk Management
- Maintain accurate compliance records and reports.
- Track, report, and ensure timely resolution of compliance incidents and corrective actions.
- Provide regular compliance performance updates to the Farm Operations Manager.
Collaboration
- Work closely with the HR Department to support employee-training, discipline, and grievance processes related to compliance.
- Coordinate with the Health & Safety Supervisor to ensure occupational safety compliance.
- Engage with all teams across field operations, pack house, and office to embed a culture of compliance.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Compliance & Audit
- 100% adherence to regulatory and certification requirements.
- Zero major non-conformities during internal or external audits.
- Timely closure of all audit findings (≤14 days).
Training & Awareness
- 100% completion of scheduled compliance and safety training.
- ≥90% knowledge retention among employees as measured by assessments.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Accurate and timely submission of compliance reports.
- All compliance incidents recorded, tracked, and resolved.
Risk Management
- Proactive identification and mitigation of ≥95% of potential compliance risks.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Effective coordination with HR, Health & Safety, and field teams to ensure compliance corrective actions are implemented.
