About the Role
Join our dynamic team and work alongside researchers, students, and staff in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for supporting laboratory operations by conducting routine tests, preparing samples, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting of results in compliance with established procedures and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect, label, and prepare samples for analysis according to standard operating procedures.
Perform routine laboratory tests and experiments as directed.
Record, analyze, and accurately report test results.
Maintain laboratory equipment through regular cleaning, calibration, and minor troubleshooting.
Ensure proper storage and handling of chemicals, reagents, and samples.
Prepare reagents and solutions required for laboratory procedures.
Maintain laboratory records, logs, and inventories.
Follow all laboratory safety, health, and waste disposal procedures.
Assist scientists, researchers, or clinicians during specialized tests and experiments.
Report any equipment malfunction, contamination, or safety risks to the supervisor.
Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities.
Ensure cleanliness and organization of the laboratory at all times.
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma or Degree in Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field.
Valid professional registration (where applicable).
Prior experience in a busy research lab environment
Experience in molecular techniques, microscopy, and parasitology would be an advantage
At least 2 years’ experience in a laboratory setting is an added advantage
