Senior Driver at National Council for Children’s Services

Duties and Responsibilities

• Duties and Responsibilities entail: -

Driving the Council's staff as authorized;

Carrying out minor mechanical adjustments;

Keeping up to date work tickets for vehicles;

Recognizing and reporting mechanical defaults of the vehicles;

Carrying out minor mechanical adjustments;

Maintaining cleanliness of vehicles;

Ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road;

Monitoring and reporting expiry of insurance policies for motor vehicles;

Preparing and submitting reports on transport when need arises;

Ensuring security and safety of passengers and vehicle on and off the road;

Ensuring proper mechanical working condition of the vehicle;

Ensuring adherence to or observations of traffic laws;

Ensuring reporting of any incidents to police and/or the office immediately they occur; and

undertake any other functions as may be lawfully assigned.

Requirements for appointment

• For appointment to this grade, the candidate must have: -

Must have served for a minimum period of nine (9) years, three (3) of which must be at the grade of driver I or in a comparable position;

At least a mean grade D (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent from a recognized institution;

A valid driving license free from any current endorsements(s) for classes of the vehicles the driver is required to drive;

A defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association of Kenya (AA) or its equivalent qualification from any other recognized institution;

First Aid certificate course;

A valid Certificate of good conduct;

Occupational trade test grade I for drivers;

Proficiency in computer applications;

Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week at the Kenya Authority of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution; and

Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
