Role
The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent humanitarian organisation dedicated to protecting the rights of displaced and affected people during crises. NRC delivers high-quality programmes to support people forced to flee, helping them rebuild their lives and establish a new future. NRC provides immediate humanitarian assistance, prevents further displacement, and contributes to durable solutions. It operates across both new and protracted crises across 40 countries.
This position is open to candidates who have the legal right to work in Ukraine. Please note that we are unable to provide work permits or visa sponsorships for this position.
Roles and responsibilities
The purpose of the Logistics Officer position is to provide support for the implementation of Logistics functions in Southern Ukraine.
Generic Responsibilities
1. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines
2. Implement the delegated support function portfolio according to the plan of action
3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
4. Ensure proper filing of documents
5. Promote and share ideas for improvement of the logistics function
6. Fleet management
7. Organisation of cargo transportation to the Project Participant based on the distribution plan.
Specific responsibilities:
Logistics:
• Prepares necessary information for submission to other logistics staff and program team if requested to do so.
Management of the fleet:
• Preparation of a weekly movement plan
• Preparation of a daily movement plan
• Monitoring the condition of vehicles and timely maintenance
Cargo transportation:
• Organisation of cargo transportation to the Project Participants based on the distribution plan.
• Keeping track of transportation in a report.
Other Duties
• To carry out other logistics duties as assigned in other departments as temporary relief, if required to do so.
Generic professional competencies
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Logistician.
• Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
• Documented results related to the position's responsibilities.
• Willing to travel to remote areas and to field offices, ability to work flexibly, including weekends, and willingness to travel and work in rural locations and live in basic conditions.
• Ability to speak the local language (Ukrainian) with a good knowledge of the English language.
Context related skills, knowledge and experience
• BA Degree in Logistics or equivalent.
• Experience in the humanitarian sector will be an advantage.
• Microsoft Word/Excel skills.
