In Egypt, Save the Children International has been working to ensure that children’s rights are respected, protected, and promoted since 1982. We carry out both long-term development work and, more recently, emergency humanitarian work.
SCI Egypt Country Office is currently expanding its programs in Aswan to implement SGBV response and prevention interventions, including case management, MHPSS, and community-based prevention activities for refugee and migrant survivors, both children and adults. These services aim to respond to, and address protection needs and provide urgent support to survivors of violence that may have occurred in their country of origin, during their journey, or at their temporary or permanent destination.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The purpose of this role is to ensure the effective compliance and implementation of child protection policies and procedures throughout all stages of the project. This will be achieved through regular supervision and monitoring of the Case Worker's performance, ensuring their adherence to child protection standards. The Child Protection Coordinator will also be responsible for integrating child protection considerations into the implementation plans and ensuring close coordination among the various concerned teams to strengthen the efforts in this regard. Additionally, the Child Protection Coordinator will provide technical support and training to the project team to build their capacities and ensure the sustainable and systematic application of child protection practices throughout the project.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Child Protection & SGBV Senior Officer
Staff directly reporting to this post: 5 Case Workers
FIELD TRAVEL: The project officer is expected to spend at least 70% of his/ her time at the field sites.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:Implementation of policies and procedures:
• Participate in ensuring that child protection policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to in the project.
• Support in monitoring the performance of the project team in adhering to child protection standards.
• Participate in identifying any gaps or issues in child protection and recommend corrective actions.
Plan development and implementation:
• Actively participate in the development of the project implementation plan.
• Participate in proving input and recommendations for integrating child protection considerations into the project plan and overall activities.
• Support in overseeing the implementation of child protection strategies outlined in the plan.
Coordination and collaboration:
• Facilitate communication and coordination between the project management team, field staff and other relevant stakeholders on child protection issues.
• Support in promoting collaboration and information sharing to enhance overall child protection efforts within the project.
• Liaise with external child protection agencies or authorities as required.
Capacity building and training:
• Participate to providing training and capacity building support to the project team and other relevant stakeholders.
• Participate in enhancing their understanding of child protection principles, policies and best practices.
• Contribute to ensuring a consistent and effective approach to child protection throughout the project.
Risk assessment and mitigation:
• Participate in conducting regular risk assessments to identify potential child protection risks within the project.
• Support in the development and implementation of strategies to mitigate these risks and protect the welfare of children involved in or affected by the project.

Reporting and Documentation: • Contribute to maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of child protection activities, events, incidents and actions. • Participate in the preparation of periodic reports on the project and any relevant protection issues. QUALIFICATIONS:
o Bachelor’s degree in economics and political science equivalent
o Experience in the field of child protection from 1-3 maximum in the office of an international organization is an added advantage.
o Fluent in Arabic and English, written and spoken.
o Excellent knowledge of computer programs.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
o Good level of experience dealing with refugee communities
o Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage time and prioritize under pressure.
o High level of initiative and ability to work with little supervision.
o Proactive in identifying difficulties and working collaboratively to solve them.
o Commitment to the values and principles of SC
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
▪ Minimum practical experience in the field of child protection from 1-3 maximum in the office of an international organization is an added advantage.
▪ Experience in SGBV.
▪ Ability to provide training and critical thinking about the content and context of materials to the target beneficiary.
▪ Ability to communicate, follow up and advocate with different service providers.
▪ The ability to talk with participants individually or with large groups.
▪ Ability to prepare flow charts, timelines, and step-by-step work plans.
▪ Knowledge or experience in NGO work is desirable.
▪ Computer literate (including working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and databases)
▪ Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and good judgment regarding confidential information.
▪ Proven ability to handle a challenging workload.
