Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
Serve as gender technical lead of the project delivery towards quality annual plan, implementation & reporting; Read RESILIENT WE project Proposal, reports & publications including year-5 plan Review and validate gender related targets and indicators of the project and consult with the RESILIENCE WE team in WVE & WVC on how best to continuously strategies with the aim to continue over achieve direct & indirect targets; Work closely with NEWA team on context based human rights (HR) & GBV on the effectiveness of safeguarding arrangements; Review safeguarding planning tool for programme design and implementation. Committed to responding to emergencies efficiently and effectively in order to help affected (if risk happens) women & girls meet their basic needs, alleviate suffering and maintain their dignity.
Lead project efforts to expand context based key Gender Transformative Approaches for both organizational and programmatic transformation Ensuring gender integration that women & girls benefit from inclusive and gender transformative market opportunities. Ensure converting GBV case mangers work into service provided.
Undertake further capacity gap analysis towards institutionalization of CBOs, FBOs & other community based service providers for staff, partners, stakeholders and community levels; Conducts standard quality training and produces related guidelines to CBOs, FBOs & other forms of community organizations to ensure the sustainability of women & girls’ empowerment and integration of gender priorities into all technical sectors of the government project; Ensure women and girls empowerment and gender equality improved get institutionalized towards sustainability & scaling up;
Lead liaising with other INGOs, LNGOs, and Government representatives and take active role in forums, task forces, core group meetings and consortia related to all cross-cutting issues for learning, experience sharing and joint action implementation. Serve as the main contact point for gender for the partnership communications to ensure that system is created/strengthened for ensuring accountability for gender equality RESILIENT WE project sector by working with project.
Ensure RESILIENT WE scaling principles such as co-learning, cost effectiveness, inclusiveness, climate smart, sustainability and scalability mainstreamed in to day to day project rolling out; Jointly monitors project progress with other thematic area advisors and ensure if women and girls are center of the operations; Drafts or contributes to written materials for a wide variety of audiences within RESILIENT WE projects, and the broader development etc. staff, WV system, concerned level government offices, NEWA & donor.

Ensure project officers and NEWA about the complementarity interventions & communications.
Ensure at different level required women & girls centered CBO/FOs/FBOs established/strengthened, empowered and get established or strengthened & get hooked into respective government and other institutions in making sure Women leadership is taking place.
Works closely with the MEAL & KM Advisor to assist partners in the implementation of projects, data collection, studies and stories on monitoring and evaluation of projects.
Ensure the documentation of successful practices, publications, development of presentations and technical documents and opportunities for reflection within the organization as well as outside the organization.
Read the RESILIENT WE Proposal & its Logic Model (LM), extract impacts, outcomes, outputs & activities and understand expected from Senior Gender Advisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE
Required Education, training, license, registration, and/or Certification
University degree at least M.Sc in gender and related field of study.
Training and deeper knowledge in gender ➢ Training in publication & developing story
Required Professional Experience
At least 7 years working experience in leading reducing environmental shocks, improving livelihoods, and innovatively empowering rural women and girls
Must have deeper understanding of RESILIENT WE project
Must have a clear understanding of major donors’ perspectives, requirements and standards
Must have proven analytical/ problem solving abilities Last updated: June 2024
Familiarity with standard gender analysis framework is an asset.
Verifiable proven research experience in gender and rural development Excellent communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to work with diverse teams.
Strong report writing, analytical, and presentation skills in English.

Required travel and/or work environment accommodations \
Based in Addis Ababa HO, with 20% travel to project sites.
Regular external engagement with WFP, partner NGO, Private sector and government
Field conditions may include challenging terrains, limited infrastructure, and security-sensitive areas.
Extended hours may be required during report submissions and whenever required.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge and/or Key Competencies
We prefer to replace the position from WVIE internal staff since RESILIENT WE project is on its last year & left with 9 months as it will be ending March 31st, 2027. Bringing staff outside WVIE would not add value to the project at its final year.
Excellent interpersonal skills – builds good relationships with internal and external stakeholders and maintain effective collaboration with all staff.
If possible, WV’s experiences on Gender Transformative development projects/programs
Excellent skill in producing quality & timely report
Appropriate skills and experience in the gender-based capacity building and training of staff and partners;
Rich experience in handling productive meeting Rich experience communication good knowledge of oral and written English language.
