About the Role

The Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Research Specialist in the Cardiology Section, Department of Medicine.

Job Role / Responsibilities:

You will be required to:

  • Assist in overall research program implementation

  • Conduct literature reviews and support scientific research activities

  • Assist in writing study protocols, grant applications, and erc submissions

  • Collect data using qualitative (e.g., interviews, focus groups) and quantitative (e.g., surveys) methods

  • Perform data entry, cleaning, management, and analysis

  • Ensure data quality control and maintain accurate study records

  • Support development and implementation of research tools

  • Assist in manuscript writing, abstracts, and reports for publications and presentations

  • Coordinate with research teams and external stakeholders for smooth execution of projects

  • Prepare and present weekly and monthly progress reports

  • Ensure timely submission of research-related documentation

  • Undertake any other tasks assigned by the principal investigator.

  • Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:

    • Master’s degree in Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Health Policy & Management, Public Health, Healthcare Management, Sociology, or any other relevant discipline

    • Three to five years of relevant experience in a large organisation preferably in healthcare research.

    • Experience in the practical conduct of data-driven research studies, health services research, data management and analysis are highly desirable

    • Experience with project or grant coordination, management, and submission.

    • Skills in data collection, analysis and interpretation

    • Knowledge of data collection techniques including surveys and other research designs

    • Good understanding of grant management processes and associated stakeholders at the University level.

  • Experience with software such as NVIVO, REDCap, SPSS

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills in English with the ability to write formal letters and emails

  • Ability to work with and provide support to multiple stakeholders and colleagues locally and internationally

  • Pro-active, detail oriented, skilled at time management with the ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time.
