Introduction:
The Aga Khan University was found in 1983 as Pakistan’s first private university; Aga Khan University is a not-for-profit institution and an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Starting in 2000, the University expanded to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and Afghanistan. AKU began life as a health-sciences university.
The Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB) is the first private-sector university-led trans-provincial Board (awarding body) in Pakistan established through the Ordinance of the Government of Pakistan. The Board offers high-quality examinations for Secondary School (grades 9th and 10th - SSC) and Higher Secondary School (grades 11th and 12th - HSSC/ FSC) qualifications for public and private schools across Pakistan. The Board also offers a Middle School Programme (MSP) for grades 6th–8th students and its registered schools engage a globally accepted approach, Project-Based Learning (PBL) to implement the MSP. PBL is considered as a foundation of the AKU-EB MSP, helping schools foster a sense of purpose and leadership in young learners.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Specialist (Curriculum Development) in the Examination Board.
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible to:
- review, revise, and develop exam syllabi and learning outcomes in line with national and international standards
- ensure vertical and horizontal alignment across grades/ levels and subjects
- integrate higher-order thinking skills, competencies, and real-world applications into curricula
- collaborate with subject experts, assessment teams and academic committees
- ensure curriculum students’ learning outcomes (SLOs) are clearly mapped to assessment specifications and examination blueprints/ TOS
- review model question papers and assessment tools for curriculum alignment
- conduct syllabi workshops and training programs for teachers and academic staff
- provide academic support to schools, colleges, and affiliated institutions
- respond to syllabi-related queries from internal and external stakeholders
- monitor exam syllabi implementation and gather feedback from stakeholders
- review syllabi effectiveness using assessment data and performance indicators
- recommend improvements based on evaluation findings
- maintain accurate records of syllabi revisions, approvals, and version control
- prepare reports, briefs and presentations for management and academic committees
- work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams (assessment, training, exam development)
- take initiative in proposing innovations in syllabi and pedagogy
- pilot and initiate different initiatives in schools before large-scale implementation to improve the exam syllabi.
Requirements:
You should have:
- master’s in science / Mathematics/ Humanities/ Languages/ Commerce or M.Ed.
- minimum 4 to 5 years of experience in teaching and/or curriculum development
- strong understanding and practical experience in teaching at both secondary and higher secondary levels
- strong subject-matter and pedagogical content knowledge, with the ability to translate disciplinary concepts into coherent and developmentally appropriate exam syllabi
- academic and professional leadership in exam syllabi design, review, and implementation across primary, secondary and higher secondary levels
- initiative in planning and facilitating workshops, conducting classroom observations, and leading curriculum-based research
- mentorship and academic guidance to associate(s), item writers, teachers and other stakeholders involved in exam syllabi development
- fluent English and Urdu, with an exceptional command of written and spoken communication in both languages for academic, technical and professional purposes.
- a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in exam syllabi, learning outcomes, assessment frameworks, and related materials.
- commitment to working closely with highly qualified academic staff in examination development, fostering a culture of professional excellence
- maintenance and implementation of exam syllabi development and review timelines to ensure the timely completion of tasks.
- collaborated with different departments to ensure the smooth flow of the project development process
- upheld the highest standards of quality assurance, academic integrity, and ethical practice in all aspects of exam syllabi and assessment work
- taken ownership of curriculum-related initiatives, from planning and implementation to monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement
- strong analytical skills to review curriculum coherence, progression, and alignment with national and international standards
- engaged constructively with feedback and uses reflective practice to enhance curriculum effectiveness and professional growth.
- utilized digital tools and data to support exam syllabi, analysis, reporting, and decision-making.
- coordinated with external stakeholders for the review of exam syllabi.
