Job Description
The suitable candidate will be responsible for customer tax compliance and reporting within Life & Savings, including PAYE reporting, tax calculations, payments, and return submissions. Supports IT3 reporting processes and ensures accuracy across assigned entities. They will work closely with tax teams and business stakeholders to maintain strong governance, compliance, and data integrity. The suitable candidate will require a self-driven, high-integrity individual with strong analytical, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
Key Result Areas:
Accountable for preparation and/or review of PAYE reconciliations and tax returns for assigned PAYE reporting entities.
Responsible for responding to and resolving PAYE queries from SARS and/or internal escalations from customers.
Support the administration, tracking, and maintenance of AA88 Garnishee Orders.
Assist with preparing, validating, and submitting IT3B, IT3C, IT3F, and IT3S third‑party data files and corrections.
Responsible for managing Chargeable Events Certificate (CEC) reporting process
Collect, verify, and organise supporting documentation to meet internal and statutory compliance requirements.
Capture and maintain accurate customer tax records on internal systems and SARS eFiling.
Monitor SARS notifications, assessments, and deadlines, escalating matters where needed.
Support senior team members during audits, verifications, and data reviews.
Keeps abreast of relevant tax legislation and changes and claims administration policies and practices and ensures standard operating procedures are updated accordingly.
Assists in development and implementation of tax systems and planning opportunities for the organisation and ensures that all requirements are met e.g. data flows/reporting.
Responsible for the tax accounting procedures for Monthly/ Quarterly/ Yearly Tax reporting
Monitors PAYE compliance within assigned business segments on a monthly basis.
Responsible for managing the end-to-end PAYE process for assigned business unit
Prepares Tax Dashboard with input from assigned business unit(s)
Assists in the co-ordination of the annual and bi-annual PAYE filing seasons
Responsible for the preparation and/or review of bi-annual and annual PAYE reconciliations for assigned PAYE reporting entities.
Replies to or provides input into tax queries received from SARS with support from senior consultants.
Responsible for managing and updating eFiling accesses to the organisation’s corporate eFiling profiles
Responsible for managing monthly AA88 downloads from SARS, distributing to relevant business units for investigation and feedback, collating feedback and preparing payment and AA88 response files to SARS within the required deadlines
Identifies, recommends and implements strategies to minimise tax risk for the organisation.
Responsible for identifying & recommending process improvements.
Providing training, where relevant, to colleagues and/or assigned business units.
Performs data integrity checks on tax data.
Perform daily administrative duties, including scanning, filing, indexing, and digital document management.
Maintain spreadsheets, reconciliations, schedules, and reporting trackers.
Provide general administrative, operational, and research support to the Tax Team.
Assist in preparing and submitting supporting documentation for SARS audits and verifications.
Log, track, and follow up on SARS queries and outstanding matters.
Attend SARS appointments alongside senior team members where appropriate.
Accepts and lives the organisation’s and Life & Savings Tax values.
Accountable for service delivery through own efforts.
Collaborates effectively with others to achieve personal results.
Assist team members in any capacity required in order to meet team deliverables
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
Matric
Relevant Undergrad degree (National Diploma, Degree, or Certificate in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (completed or in progress)
Completed Higher Dip Tax/Tax Honours (or study in progress) is advantageous
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
2 or more years Tax Compliance Experience is advantageous
Familiarity with SARS eFiling and SARS e@syFile ThinClient will be advantageous.
Completed Traineeship at an Audit Firm or similar is advantageous
Good operational understanding of Financial Services Business and good tax process knowledge is advantageous.
Knowledge of Old Mutual Policy Administration Systems is advantageous
