About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and skilled investigator to conduct and/or oversee the most sensitive and complex investigations within the company. Our team of internal investigators is responsible for assessing and investigating reports and allegations of potential violations of Cigna’s Code of Ethics and Principles of Conduct; Cigna’s Compliance Policies and Procedures; and the various laws and regulations that apply to Cigna’s business, including Federal and State healthcare program requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Independently lead investigations from intake through resolution, including initial formulation of investigation strategy, interviews, document review, and stakeholder debriefs

  • Serve as a resource and mentor to non-attorney investigators on broader team, offering guidance on legal standards, documentation, and case handling

  • Ensure that compliance and ethics inquiries, and reports of alleged employee misconduct are promptly assessed, responded to, timely and thoroughly investigated, and resolved;

  • Partner with The Cigna Group’s team of e-discovery and forensic investigators to identify, preserve, and obtain relevant documents and data;

  • Draft clear, timely reports and communicate findings to legal and business leaders

  • Collaborate with HR on employment-related outcomes and disciplinary actions

  • In collaboration with partners in Enterprise Compliance and the relevant business segment, conduct root cause analyses and determine whether any remedial or corrective actions may be appropriate, and whether matters and/or findings or conclusions should be disclosed to federal and/or state agencies.

  • Ensure that appropriate policies and procedures, and training and education programs, are adopted as warranted by findings in internal investigations.

  • Evaluate whether findings warrant disclosure to regulatory agencies

  • Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and compliance

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA accredited law school

  • 5+ years of experience conducting and managing complex internal investigations, preferably in a corporate or publicly traded environment

  • Strong knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to healthcare or regulated businesses

  • Excellent interviewing, analytical, and written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to evaluate complex issues, exercise sound judgment, and make practical recommendations to senior leaders

  • Demonstrated commitment to integrity, compliance, and ethical decision making


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 132,700 - 221,100 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
