Java Full Stack Developer - Vice President at Citi

The Applications Development Technology Lead Analyst is a senior level position responsible for establishing and implementing new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to lead applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Responsibilities:

• Own and Responsible for end-to-end development of the projects/programs assigned
• Partner with multiple management teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet goals as well as identify and define necessary system enhancements to deploy new products and process improvements
• Lead and mentor a team of full stack developers working on backend and frontend components
• Resolve variety of high impact problems/projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards
• Provide expertise in area and advanced knowledge of applications programming and ensure application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint
• Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation
• Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals
• Provide in-depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions
• Serve as advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary
• Collaborating with stakeholders and working closely with various technology groups & vendor organizations to be able to drive a standard framework for development processes
• Deliver state-of-the-art solutions using new stack development using Agile/DevOps/Micro services/Angular JS
• Regular interact with business and operations partners globally.
• Ensure the right team structure and organization is put in place for the new development unit ; Excellent track record in Team management (1-2 scrums and each squad having 7-10 people) and interaction of vendors / staffed model
• Work across multiple development teams - offshore / onshore / Vendor teams and track project deliverable closely
• Should have hands-on development experience on Java & modernization technologies
• Able to be a lead from the front, to get down and work with team and understand the problem and resolve
• Relationship management skills -- ability to develop and sustain positive partnerships and be a strong leader
• A strong commitment to quality and efficiency

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
• Master’s degree preferred

Qualifications:

• 10+ years relevant experience
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
• Management and prioritization skills
• Ability to develop working relationships
• Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities
• Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
• Self-starter with ability to take the initiative and master new tasks quickly

Technical / Functional Proficiency:

Architecture & Design:

• Strong experience designing Data solutions using microservices architecture (decomposition, inter-service communication, API gateways, resilience patterns, scalability)
• Familiarity with API gateways (Kong, Apigee) and service mesh (Istio, Linkerd — nice to have)

Backend:

• Java (8+), Spring Boot, Spring Cloud
• REST APIs, GraphQL (nice to have)
• SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle)
• NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis, or similar)

Frontend:

• Angular (8+) as primary framework
• Strong JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, SCSS
• Exposure to React.js (or openness to cross-framework collaboration)

DevOps & Cloud:

• Kubernetes (deployments, Helm, config maps, secrets, scaling, rolling updates)
• Docker (containerization)
• CI/CD tools (Jenkins, uDeploy, Harness, Tekton)
• Cloud-native deployment (AWS EKS / GCP GKE / Azure AKS)

Tools & Practices:

• Experience Gen AI is a strong plus
• Messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Git (GitFlow / trunk-based development)
• Unit & integration testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Jasmine, Karma, Cypress)
• Monitoring/logging (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
• API documentation (Swagger/OpenAPI)
• Security best practices (OAuth2, JWT, Spring Security, OWASP)
• Experience on trade finance products development is a strong plus
• Technology Migration project exposure is a Strong plus
• Should have good experience on handling multiple teams and project management.
