Senior Engineering Lead, Big Data Engineering & Regulatory Platforms at Citi

We are seeking a seasoned highly experienced and motivated Senior Architectural and Engineering Lead to drive the vision and execution of regulatory big data framework. Ideal candidate will spearhead architectural and engineering initiatives, leading a core technology team focused on providing scalable solution for regulatory reporting applications. This role involves comprehensive analysis of functional requirements, designing innovative solutions, and evaluating various technical options to provide well-reasoned recommendations to senior stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in big data technologies and in financial services domain , enabling them to understand complex, multi-dimensional business challenges and formulate effective solutions. A strong commitment to architectural simplification, sustainability, and future-ready platforms is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and guide a core technology team responsible for developing and maintaining regulatory reporting frameworks, with a focus on leveraging big data solutions like Hadoop, Hive, Spark, and Data Bricks.

• Lead architecture governance process including architecture review boards, technology assessments, and conformance to key design principles

• Build and maintain big data pipelines using technologies such as Apache Hadoop, Apache Kafka, Databricks and other cloud based big data tools.

• Establish best practices for big data architecture including data governance, security and meta data requirement.

• Evaluates and tests potential architecture solution designs to ensure they meet functional and non-functional requirements

• Design, develop, and implement an end-to-end robust, scalable framework that addresses critical business needs, with a particular focus on regulatory compliance and reporting, performance ,security , reliability and operational efficiency , incorporating AI-driven solution.

• Evaluate different technical options, conduct comparative analyses, and present clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.

• Apply in-depth domain knowledge of financial services to comprehend complex business problems and develop appropriate solution options.

• Drive opportunities for efficiency gains, enhanced controls, and extendable scalability through innovative architectural solutions.

• Articulate and demonstrate architectural vision through various architectural artifacts.

• Collaborate with high-performing teams to design enterprise-wide solutions across business, technical, and data architecture domains.

• Engage with key stakeholders, including operations teams, product teams, and application development teams across different Lines of Business (LoBs) and functions, ensuring global engagement and alignment.

• Provide technical leadership , mentoring junior engineers and fostering culture of innovation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of proven experience in a senior-level architectural and engineering role.

• 5+ years experience in leading large scale enterprise architecture initiatives within banking, financial services industry

• Experience with cloud platform ( eg. AWS ,Azure ,GCP) in combination with big data technology such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, and Data Bricks.

• Knowledge of machine learning and advance analytical within big data environments.

• Strong decision making, forward thinking and creative problem-solving skills to anticipate and respond quickly to technological/market influences

• Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities and related reporting to identify best practices

• In-depth domain knowledge of financial services.

• Demonstrable commitment to architectural simplification, building sustainable, and future-ready platforms.

• Results-oriented, innovative, and motivated individual.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills for engaging with senior stakeholders.

• Ability to work effectively in a global, multi-stakeholder environment.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience

• Master’s degree preferred

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$141,440.00 - $212,160.00
