About the Role

Ready to Build a Safer Future?

If you’re passionate about safety and want to make a real impact on construction projects, this is your chance to step into a role where your expertise truly matters. ERM is hiring an on-site Consulting Senior Associate, Commercial Construction Safety Specialist to support and lead safety initiatives across client construction sites in the San Francisco Bay Area (San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, etc.). This is more than a job—it’s an opportunity to protect lives, shape safer work environments, and grow your career in a dynamic industry.

Why This Role Matters

Construction projects are complex, and safety is non-negotiable. In this role, you’ll be the trusted advisor and proactive presence that ensures every worker goes home safe. Your work will directly reduce risk, prevent incidents, and foster a culture of safety excellence.

What Your Impact Is

  • Drive compliance and best practices for high-risk activities like Electrical LOTO and working from heights/scaffolding.

  • Influence safety culture by collaborating with site leadership, trade partners, and subcontractors.

  • Lead investigations and corrective actions that prevent future incidents.

  • Be the visible, hands-on safety advocate during critical operations.

What You'll Bring

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, engineering, or related science OR equivalent work experience (2 years = 1 year education).

  • 1+ years of commercial construction safety experience.

  • Ability to review and critique Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) or pre-task plans.

  • Strong communication skills—approachable yet firm in enforcing safety standards.

  • Proficient experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Willingness to travel to client sites (2–4 days/week) within the Bay Area.

  • Self-directed and reliable in fast-paced environments.

  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.

  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

  • Preferred

    • 2+ years of commercial construction safety experience.

    • Skilled trades background (e.g., carpentry, electrical, crane lift).

    • Experience with Facility Commissioning.

    • OSHA 30-hour Construction Certification.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct and document daily site safety inspections.

    • Enforce compliance with fall protection and scaffolding regulations.

    • Review and provide feedback on contractor pre-task plans.

    • Support and lead safety aspects of construction projects, integrating risk mitigation.

    • Assist site leadership in improving overall safety programs.

    • Serve as a proactive safety presence during high-risk activities.

    • Lead and support incident investigations, including root cause analysis.

    • Facilitate toolbox talks, safety stand-downs, and jobsite safety meetings.

    • Collaborate with trade partners to ensure safe work practices.

    • Build strong relationships while maintaining accountability for safety standards.

    • Identify hazards and recommend timely, practical corrective actions.
