About the Role

Overview

The Partnerships Intern will support the NRC Country Office in Abuja by assisting in the coordination and management of partnerships, documentation, compliance tracking and partner engagement, while gaining practical experience in humanitarian programming and partnership management.

Role

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has been present in Nigeria since 2015 and works to support displacement-affected communities in meeting basic needs, improving livelihoods, accessing essential services, and enhancing resilience. NRC operates across six core competencies: Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Shelter, Education, Information Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA), Livelihoods and Food Security (LFS), Camp Management, and Protection.

We are looking for people who are passionate about helping refugees and people forced to flee.

If you are such a person, NRC Nigeria is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Partnership Intern to join our Country Office in Abuja. The intern will support the Partnerships unit in day-to-day coordination and management of NRC’s partnerships and relationships with local implementing partners.

This role provides an opportunity to learn about partnership management, donor compliance, and humanitarian programming within NRC.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Partner Liaison and Coordination

  • Support communication between NRC and implementing partners

  • Assist in organizing partner meetings, selection processes, and workshops

  • Take meeting notes and support follow-up on action points

  • Help maintain positive working relationships with partners

Documentation and Filing

  • Assist in maintaining proper filing and archiving of partnership documents

  • Support updating partnership trackers, templates, and databases

  • Ensure documents (agreements, reports, assessments) are well organized and accessible

  • Help collect required documents from partners

Compliance and Reporting Support

  • Assist in tracking partner reporting deadlines and submissions

  • Support basic review of partner reports for completeness

  • Help ensure partners submit required documents on time

  • Assist with compiling simple summaries or internal reports

Programme and Coordination Support

  • Support coordination with Programme and Finance teams on partner activities

  • Assist in tracking implementation progress and partner activities

  • Help ensure smooth administrative support for sub-grant processes

Capacity Building Support

  • Assist in organizing partner trainings and workshops

  • Support preparation and printing of training materials

  • Help with logistics arrangements (venue, transport, materials)

  • Provide basic support during online or in-person trainings

  • Assist in documenting training outputs and feedback

Partnership Processes Support

  • Assist with partner selection processes (e.g., drafting documents, organizing meetings)

  • Support basic partner assessments and data collection

  • Help in reviewing partner budgets for completeness (administrative check only)

  • Assist in maintaining and improving partnership tools and templates

Other Duties

  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Partnerships Manager/Officer

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Relevant University Degree or Higher Education, preferably in international relations, development studies, social sciences, or project management

  • 0–2 years of relevant experience within the field

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Strong communication, coordination and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

  • Interest in working in the NGO sector and contributing to humanitarian causes

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
