Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented professional to join our team, supporting the successful delivery, coordination, and management of architectural and design initiatives within the organisation. The role will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure projects are executed efficiently, aligned to brand standards, and meet business objectives.

Responsibilities

Bid Solicitation/Request for Proposal/Tender Analysis

Analyze parts of the bid solicitation project requirements, and gather and assess information related to the feasibility of these requirements for the organization.

Architectural Design

Contribute to the planning, design, construction, testing, communication, evaluation, and implementation of architectural solutions.

Feasibility Studies

Contribute to and support feasibility studies from a technological and organizational perspective, and document findings.

Construction Advice

Provide professional advice relating to construction regulations and best practice with regard to the maintenance, alteration, and construction of buildings.

Building Surveys

Undertake building and technical surveys, with support and guidance from experienced surveyors, to determine the building condition and identify defects and associated risks. Includes conducting a wide range of surveys on complex sites.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) System

Help with building/construction activities by designing layouts and maps that reflect the property scope and the parameters of buildings/constructions.

Personal Capability Building

Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching. Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

This role is responsible for:

  • Produce and submit council plans to relevant authorities

    • 90+ Retail store plans per year

    • 30 + Commercial office plans per year

  • Design and Facilitate Space planning layouts for Retail Banking Branches and Interior office fit outs.

  • Ensure produced layouts in terms of SANS & NBR regulations and ensure all plans comply with statutory regulations.

  • Ensure all work aligns with organisational standards, brand guidelines, and regulatory requirements

  • Responsible for interpreting headcount documentation and design briefs, and translating these into accurate, functional working designs.

  • Measure accurately SAPOA measurements.

  • Be required from time to time do to site surveys in order to issue and check SAPOA Measurements.

  • Interaction with internal project managers and Leasing/Legal teams.

  • Revit Template design and upkeep for various portfolios

Generic KRA’s:

  • Reporting to Property Architecture and Design Manager

  • Candidate must be a hard-working, hands-on, go getter and team player, ready to join an established Properties team

  • Good communicator who keeps line manager and other internal role players up to date on progress of designs and submissions.

  • Knowledge of the SANS, National Building Regulations and Occupational Health & Safety Act experience, an understanding.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality outcomes

  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and within a team

  • Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Personal Effectiveness

    • Accountable for service delivery through own efforts. Individually accountable for managing own time, tasks and output quality.

Minimum requirements:

  • Matric

  • Registered with SACAP as Architectural Technologist (Professional)

  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience as an Architectural Technologist in retail Store or commercial office designs (Interiors)

  • Retail Store Design Experience

  • Commercial Office interior Space Experience

  • SAPOA Measurement knowledge

  • SANS 10400 Regulations

  • Council submission experience

  • Some experience in Town planning laws advantageous

  • Computer proficient: Revit, Autocad, Indesign, Excel, MS Word, Adobe programs

  • Revit BIM and template building experience

  • Must have own transport

  • Must have a valid driver’s license
