Become a crucial member of the Technical Revenue team at Palo Alto Networks! We are seeking a highly motivated Technical Revenue Manager focused on New Product Initiatives (NPI) who is excited to join a high-growth Company operating at the leading edge of AI innovation. From a strategic revenue lens, you will define revenue recognition policies, establish accounting frameworks, and partner closely with cross-functional teams (including Product Management, GTM, Legal, and Revenue Operations) to evaluate, structure, and operationalize new product introductions, pricing strategies, and highly complex monetization architectures and next-generation product offerings. As AI architectures accelerate our product roadmap and drive exponential scaling, this position requires a hands-on, solutions-oriented individual who thrives under pressure and adapts quickly to the high-velocity pace of an AI-driven growth environment.
Key Responsibilities
Cross-Functional Partnership & Policy Design: Partner with Product Management, GTM, Legal, and Revenue Operations during the inception phase of New Product Initiatives (NPIs) to assess revenue recognition positioning under ASC 606. Crucially, this role is responsible for authoring and formally documenting comprehensive revenue accounting policies and technical position papers to establish the compliant framework for all new offerings prior to launch.
Technical Accounting Papers: Research, resolve, and write technical revenue position papers documenting the accounting conclusions and economic substance of complex, non-routine NPI transactions and corporate acquisitions.
Commercial Structure Evaluation: Evaluate emerging commercial structures, consumption-based billing models, intricate multi-element packaging terms, and evolving deployment models to determine appropriate accounting treatment and performance obligations (POBs), providing strategic recommendations to maximize revenue.
Process Optimization & Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead strategic, high-impact cross-functional initiatives to scale technical revenue processes, and translate actionable insights into robust system and policy recommendations that drive automation, minimize launch friction, and enhance overall accounting efficiencies.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 6+ years of related accounting/finance experience with 3+ years of dedicated Technical Revenue experience (leveraging a deep understanding of ASC 606)
Education: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university or equivalent training, education, and experience in Finance, Accounting or similar field or equivalent military experience required
Technical Mastery: Proven expertise in researching, interpreting, and writing complex technical revenue accounting position papers; must possess an advanced, authoritative command of technical revenue accounting frameworks and standard Big 4 revenue handbooks.
NPI & Commercial Mechanics: Strong foundational knowledge of evaluating new product introductions (NPI) or complex commercial packaging structures from a revenue lens.
Systems & Tools: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets), with a high comfort level utilizing advanced analytical and productivity tools (e.g., Gemini, NotebookLM)
Execution & Drive: Solid organizational skills with the ability to ruthlessly prioritize and execute product launch deadlines in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with strict attention to detail.
Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to translate complex accounting policies into actionable business guidance for cross-functional partners and leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
Background: Prior Public Accounting experience with a focus on ASC 606, OR equivalent lengthy corporate industry experience specializing in a Technical Revenue/NPI function.
Enterprise Systems: Hands-on experience with enterprise ERPs (SAP), CRM/Quoting architectures (SFDC/CPQ), or data querying tools (BigQuery) in an operational testing or system validation capacity
AI Literacy: Familiarity with integrating generative AI tools into daily workflows to optimize research, documentation speed, and overall productivity.
