About the Role

At Riot Games, we’re committed to delivering unforgettable esports experiences to fans around the globe. Riot engineers bring deep knowledge of specific technical areas but also value the opportunity to work across multiple domains. As a Systems Engineer in the Esports Event Technology (EET) Team, you will support a team focused on building, supporting and maintaining the infrastructure, tooling and applications that power Riot's esports events around the world. You will work in a self-guiding, cross-functional team with highly skilled individuals to ensure that Riot's infrastructure is capable of supporting all Riot Esports initiatives.

This role may require international travel to support global and regional events. Expected travel ranges from 10% to 40% depending on event schedules and business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the SME for core infrastructure systems, platforms, and services
  • Design, support and evolve our global esports infrastructure
  • Collaborate within a diverse, cross functional team across engineering and operations
  • Develop technical standards and enable operations teams through documentation, automation, and coaching
  • Participate in global event support as needed, including occasional non standard working hours

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years as a Systems, Support or Infrastructure Engineering roles
  • Experience with Ansible and Terraform for automation and configuration management
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins)
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, AHV).
  • Experience designing and operating containerized workloads (e.g., Docker)
  • Experience with imaging and deployment tools (e.g., FOG, SCCM, Autopilot)
  • Expertise in Linux and Windows systems
  • Track record of reducing operational toil through automation

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience building or maintaining global infrastructure, systems at scale
  • Experience defining and implementing monitoring, alerting, and observability standards
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash)
  • Experience using Git for version control
  • Experience with operating infrastructure in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
  • Relevant certifications such as RHCE or RHCSA, or equivalent hands-on experience, are a plus
