About the Role

Overview

Provide competent, professional physical security coverage and response for Church properties and facilities, for employees, Church leaders, visitors, and guests globally. Position exists to promote a safe and peaceful environment in which Church members and visitors can worship, teach, learn, pray together, make and renew covenants, and receive sacred ordinances in order for the mission of the Church to be accomplished. This position helps accomplish goals and tasks specific to an individual area within the Church.

Responsibilities

Support the implementation of Church Security Department (CSD) strategies across the assigned area
Assist in conducting geopolitical risk assessments and monitoring the security environment using available intelligence and field information
Maintain and support relationships with local law enforcement, embassies, NGOs, and private security providers
Assist in the coordination of emergency action plans (EAPs), drills, and security training activities
Support Area and Mission leadership with security guidance related to housing, travel, and incident response
Assist in delivering security training and awareness programs for Church leaders, missionaries, and staff
Conduct or support physical security assessments and site reviews for Church properties, including meetinghouses, offices, and missionary housing
Support incident response activities and ensure timely and accurate reporting of security incidents
Monitor local security trends and provide timely updates and advisories to the Area Security Manager
Assist in ensuring that Church security protocols are appropriately implemented and adapted to local contexts
Support coordination with the Church Security Department (CSD) and contribute to information sharing and reporting requirements
Provide operational support during high-level visits, events, or emergency situations
Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to support safe and secure Church operations
Carry out assigned duties with minimal supervision, demonstrating sound judgment and professionalism
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels

Requirements

Selections for this position will not solely be based on an individual's qualifications but will include the needs of the specific Area and Church Security Department.

Bachelor’s degree in security management, Criminology, Law, Business Administration, or a related field
Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in security operations, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
Proven experience in managing security personnel, including deployment, supervision, and performance management
Strong understanding of security risk assessments, incident management, and emergency response procedures
Demonstrated knowledge of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) laws, regulations, and security compliance requirements
Familiarity with the local security environment in the Area, including risk landscape and operational challenges
Experience working with security service providers and managing vendor relationships is an added advantage
Excellent report writing and documentation skills, including incident reports, risk assessments, and audits
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
