Team/Role Overview

This role provides strategic and operational support to the UK Head of Operations and the UK Regulatory Senior Manager for Operations (SMF24). There is also support provided by this team to the EMEA/CEP Cluster Head of Operations, following a similar approach to the UK Operations structure. The successful candidate will help enable the effective discharge of the Senior Manager regulatory responsibilities, supporting robust governance, informed decision‑making, and the delivery of strategic priorities.

What you’ll do

Governance, Oversight & Risk Management:

  • Support the UK Head of Operations & SMF24 in executing their regulatory and operational responsibilities, ensuring consistent organisation, engagement, and alignment across all business and functional delegates.
  • Support the tracking and reporting of progress against key operational and regulatory priorities, including timely escalation of risks, issues, and dependencies — Processing Risk oversight, UK Third‑Party Management, Operational Resilience, and the sustained embedding of MCA processes across UK Operations.
  • Ensure full adherence to firmwide policies, regulatory requirements, and legal entity governance standards. Maintain clear documentation and robust oversight processes, and proactively keep the UK Head of Operations & SMF24 informed of emerging risks, issues, regulatory developments, and thematic matters to support timely decision‑making and fulfilment of SMF responsibilities.
  • Support in driving root‑cause analysis of issues, incidents, and control breaks, ensuring outcomes are well‑evidenced, actionable, and aligned with regulatory expectations. Lead thematic read‑across across UK Operations and relevant global functions to identify common drivers, prevent recurrence, and ensure consistent application of lessons learned.
  • Provide support where required to the CEP Operations Governance model, ensuring read-across to topics of mutual interest to both CEP and UK Operations management.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement within the team, seeking out and developing opportunities to streamline processes, adopt emerging technology solutions and simplify our operating environment

Committee & Regulatory Engagement:

  • Ensure timely and high‑quality updates are reflected in the governance and committee submissions to support effective decision‑making and alignment with organisational objectives and regulatory expectations.
  • Support in ensuring compliance with governance standards and regulatory requirements related to committee operations, materials, and documentation.

Regulatory Awareness & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Driving improved horizon scanning on emerging regulatory directives, supervisory statements, and industry developments.
  • Provide support in engaging stakeholders to promote awareness of material issues and enable timely resourcing and prioritisation discussions.

General:

  • Foster a high‑performance culture grounded in accountability, transparency, collaboration, and proactive risk management.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and uplift of risk and controls acumen to strengthen team resilience, quality of execution, and consistency of standards.
  • Develop required domain expertise across relevant regulatory and internal business and functional aligned processes and key subjects. (i.e. Third-Party Management, Operational Resilience)

What we’ll need from you

  • Strong expertise in the design, implementation, and testing of controls.
  • Extensive experience in similar role.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver sustainable solutions and process improvements.
  • Good understanding of applicable compliance laws, rules, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of Citi Policies, Standards, and Procedures.
  • Strong analytical capability to assess complex risk and control environments.
  • Ability to prepare presentations to senior and executive audiences.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Leadership Attributes:
  • Strong sense of accountability, ownership, and results orientation.
  • Ability to inspire confidence, drive collaboration, and support a culture of proactive risk management.
  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
