About the Role

Build high-impact financial software at the centre of Citi's data and technology landscape as a Software Developer Analyst on the Insight team, a strategic regulatory reporting framework that processes large-scale financial data. In this role, you will design and deliver software solutions using modern technologies including Java, Spring Boot, SQL, and Big Data platforms, contributing directly to systems that matter at a global scale. You will work alongside experienced engineers and collaborate across technology teams to build, test, and continuously improve applications that support critical financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement enhancements to enterprise applications by applying knowledge of software development procedures, system architecture, and industry standards.

  • Build and maintain application features using Java and Spring Boot, writing clean, functional code aligned to technical design specifications.

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues across the software stack, delivering solutions that improve system reliability and performance.

  • Conduct structured testing and debugging cycles to validate code quality and ensure applications function correctly before deployment.

  • Analyse business and system requirements to evaluate solution options and translate them into practical, maintainable software.

  • Develop working knowledge of enterprise systems including client-server applications, database platforms, and network operations to inform development decisions.

  • Identify and escalate technical and operational risks, ensuring software decisions meet compliance and quality standards.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 2-4 of experience in software development or application programming within a professional environment.

  • Hands-on ability to write and debug code in Java and Spring Boot for business applications.

  • Practical SQL skills, including the ability to query, structure, and manage relational data.

  • Familiarity with software development standards, industry best practices, and structured programming approaches.

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical work and engage effectively with team members.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience building front-end components or interfaces using Angular.

  • Exposure to Big Data platforms, distributed processing tools, or large-scale data pipelines.

  • Familiarity with financial services systems or regulatory reporting environments.
