Team/Role Overview

This role is part of the 1st Line of Defence Risk and Control team, supporting the 1st line MiFID/R Regulation Lead on management and oversight of compliance with the UK and EU Markets in Financial Instruments Regulation and Directive (MiFID/R).


We are looking for an experienced risk and controls specialist who can support our 1st line MiFID/R Oversight program requirements. This program covers all Citi businesses (Markets, Banking, Services and Wealth Management). The role requires extensive coordination with internal stakeholders across businesses and functions to support and meet required standards by the MiFID/R regulations in relevant jurisdictions.

What you'll do

  • Coordinate the various MiFID/R governance forums.

  • Partner with business units to monitor control effectiveness and manage residual risk effectively through Risk and Control Self Assessment process.

  • Oversee issue management and ensure timely and appropriate remediation of issues.

  • Develop, monitor and report key performance/risk metrics in relation to MiFID/R.

  • Manage multiple MiFID/R publications in Citi Regulations inventory, maintain correct applicability and prevent any changes going overdue.

  • Maintain reference control library for all UK/EU MiFID/R obligations.

  • Support MiFID/R control enhancement projects and new controls implementations.

  • Support overall MiFID training and communication program to upskill the front office and 1 LoD staff.

  • Ensure timely escalation of issues to the Regulation Lead.

  • Liaise with other functions such as Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit and other Control functions to maintain an effective control framework.

What we'll need from you

  • Significant practical experience in Financial Services, with risk, controls and business execution experience.

  • Knowledge and understanding of EU/UK MIFIR/MIFID II or other major European or US regulations.

  • Experience in regulation implementation, change programs and delivering high quality work products

  • Experience in full remediation lifecycle, from issue identification to management and remediation

  • Capable of prioritizing and multi-tasking in a dynamic, fast paced environment. Creativity and efficiency when managing time-sensitive demands from competing stakeholders

  • Experience in navigating complex issues, effective co

  • Communication and collaboration across multiple stakeholders
