Job Overview:
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is one of the leading providers of high-quality programming for refugees resettling to the United States. Switchboard is a one-stop resource hub for refugee service providers in the United States, supported by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) and implemented by the IRC. Switchboard provides training, technical assistance, and knowledge resources to build the capacity of organizations serving refugees and other ORR-eligible populations nationwide. Switchboard is seeking a limited-term Mapping and Referral Coordinator to play a key role in advancing Switchboard’s community-facing technical assistance and capacity-building portfolio from April – September 2026. The Mapping and Referral Coordinators will support identifying, organizing, and connecting community partners to critical resources and services for ORR-eligible populations. This role is responsible for expanding on existing state-level resource mapping by researching, verifying, and documenting programs offered by ORR-funded initiatives, government agencies, local nonprofits, and community organizations across the U.S. The coordinator will strengthen Switchboard’s referral system by establishing referral pathways to mapped community resources, and initiating referrals based on location, eligibility, and need. The Referral & Mapping Coordinator will report to the Senior Program Officer for State and Community Capacity Building (SCCB) and will work closely with the SCCB team and other Switchboard partners.
Major Responsibilities:
- Complete and expand state-level resource mapping, ensuring coverage beyond regions already mapped.
- Research and document programs serving ORR-eligible populations, including those offered by:
- ORR-funded initiatives (e.g., PC, MG, RSS)
- State and municipal programs
- Local nonprofits, community-based organizations, and grassroots initiative
- Verify and maintain up-to-date contact information, eligibility criteria, and service offerings for all mapped programs.
- Support a comprehensive referral system that enables program PO and PM to efficiently refer callers to appropriate services based on location, eligibility, and needs.
- Ensure consistency between the resource map and referral pathways.
- Develop and maintain a searchable, organized database of mapped resources for use by Switchboard staff.
- Collaborate with the Switchboard communications team to ensure accurate public-facing materials are updated with the latest mapping data.
- Contribute to tracking, reporting, and quality improvement of program process with the help of Switchboard M&E team
- Track referral trends and outcomes, contribute to ongoing evaluation and reporting, and identify gaps in service coverage.
- Stay updated on eligibility policies and service delivery changes.
- Provide consultation, coaching, and mentoring to Community Partners as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required;
- Minimum two to three years non-profit experience, preferably with experience in the U.S. refugee admissions program (USRAP) and/or Community Engagement.
Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:
- Demonstrated ability to promote an organizational culture that reflects IRC’s core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality.
- Experience with Airtable data management or similar data systems preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member in a diverse, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills: the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and partners and to draft and edit memos, letters, reports and proposals.
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
- Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Possesses strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
- Ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written required. Other languages (Spanish, Arabic, French) desired.
Working Environment: Remote working environment, with potential for travel depending on project needs.
Compensation: (Pay Range: $25.75-$32.45) Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
