About the Role

Job Purpose

  • Truck Turnboy is responsible for assisting the driver in the safe and timely delivery of products to customers and distributors. The role involves loading and offloading goods, verifying deliveries, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, ensuring proper product handling, and supporting efficient distribution operations while adhering to company safety and customer service standards.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery and Distribution Support

  • Assist the driver in delivering products to customers, distributors, and designated locations.
  • Load and offload products safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure products are handled carefully to prevent damage, breakage, or loss during transportation.
  • Arrange products properly within the vehicle to maximize space utilization and ensure load stability.
  • Assist in route navigation and delivery scheduling as directed.

Inventory and Documentation

  • Verify quantities loaded against delivery notes and dispatch documents.
  • Assist in confirming quantities delivered to customers.
  • Obtain customer acknowledgments and proof of delivery where required.
  • Report shortages, damages, discrepancies, or delivery issues immediately to the driver and supervisor.

Vehicle Maintenance and Safety

  • Assist in conducting daily vehicle inspections before and after trips.
  • Ensure the truck is kept clean and presentable at all times.
  • Report vehicle defects, breakdowns, or safety concerns promptly.
  • Assist in securing cargo and ensuring compliance with road safety regulations.

Health, Safety, and Compliance

  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Follow safe lifting and manual handling procedures.
  • Report accidents, incidents, and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Comply with company distribution, quality, and security requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent qualification.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.

Experience

  • Previous experience as a Turnboy, Delivery Assistant, Loader, or in logistics/distribution operations is an added advantage.
  • Experience in FMCG, beverage, manufacturing, or distribution environments is preferred.
  • Fresh candidates with the required competencies may be considered.
