About the Role
The ED Hold Unit is a specialized inpatient nursing department located within the Emergency Department. Staffed by a dedicated inpatient nursing team, this unit provides care for admitted Medical-Surgical and Cardiac patients under both inpatient and observation status.
Care begins in the Emergency Department and is delivered in close collaboration with the ED nursing team. Patients with inpatient status are transferred to inpatient units as beds become available, while those under observation remain in the ED Hold Unit for the duration of their stay.

- ED Decompression: Rapidly assume care once admission orders are placed to alleviate ED congestion.
- Safe, High-Quality Care: Deliver inpatient-level care in non-traditional ED spaces with a focus on safety and excellence.
- Efficient Care Progression: Promote purposeful care planning to reduce length of stay and support timely transitions.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.
