Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual closing activity, preparation of consolidated financial statements of AKU and related management information, and assigned accounts payable sections of the department. Key responsibilities include:
- Approval of local and foreign payments as per the approved authority matrix
- Supervision of staff who process and check payments and ensuring accurate recording of expenses as per the University policy and compliance with local laws and granting agencies requirements.
- Liaise with various departments for day to day matters for reporting, payables, and schedules.
- Preparation and monitoring of monthly financials/reports for different stakeholders.
- Prepare / Review of monthly schedules for assets and liabilities as assigned and follow with the relevant stakeholders for the recovery/adjustments of funds.
- Execution of monthly, quarterly, and annual closing of financials and leading the team members involved.
- Participate in annual audit activity including coordinating with auditors and users, preparation of financial statements, management and board reports along with analysis.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements, its analysis and prepare management and board papers.
- Finalize all schedules/ reconciliation for assets and liabilities.
- Perform quarterly and annual closing related activities and variance analysis.
- Assist with annual external audits and coordinating with auditors.
Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:
Applicants should possess:
- ICMA /ACCA qualified or finalist(4-5 papers left)/ Masters in Finance or equivalent with relevant work experience
- Minimum 3-4 years' experience in Finance.
- Have sound knowledge of overall financial systems, accounting standards and withholding tax laws.
- Effective communication and report writing skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop team members to work towards achieving the set goals and objectives
- Excellence at conducting data analysis.
- Strong command on MS Excel and MS Word
- Ability to prioritize work assignments and meet strict deadlines.
