Clinical Nurse, Clinical Trials Unit

Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) is a Department dedicated to develop a center of excellence for high quality and high impact clinical trials both nationally & internationally. The Department promotes AKU’s vision by providing leadership, consultation, and facilitation in different phases of clinical trials in compliance with the International Standards and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
This is a grant-funded contractual position.
You will be responsible to:
- support the day-to-day clinical and research activities of the Clinical Trials Unit under the supervision of the principal investigator and CTU supervisors
- coordinate and schedule study participants’ visits in accordance with approved research protocols
- facilitate patient care and perform clinical procedures including vital signs monitoring, IV cannulation, ECG, phlebotomy and specimen collection
- coordinate with pharmacists, oncology nurses and other relevant departments for study medication dispensing and administration
- process, handle, store and dispatch biological specimens in compliance with laboratory and research protocols
- maintain accurate clinical, laboratory and research documentation, including source records, specimen logs, inventory records and temperature logs
- ensure compliance with ICH-GCP guidelines, institutional policies, infection control measures and safety standards
- provide emergency nursing support and ensure appropriate handling and disposal of biological and hazardous materials
- report adverse events, incidents and protocol deviations to the principal investigator and study team on time
- participate in staff meetings, training sessions and continuous professional development activities.
You should have:
- a bachelor’s degree in nursing
- at least one year of relevant experience as a nurse in a hospital or clinical setting (inpatient and/or outpatient services), with demonstrated competence in direct patient care
- a valid and active Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) licence
- prior experience of working in research studies will be considered an advantage.
