About the Role
ERM is hiring an Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist to work onsite at a key client’s facility in Akron, OH. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of technical capability and deep understanding of regulations and business processes to help our client proactively address their EHS risks and challenges. This is a full-time (40 hours per week) limited-term role, with a duration of 6 months, extendable.
Responsibilities:
- Support environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance, environmental management system, environmental compliance programs, contingency plans, multi-media permits, and reports for air quality, hazardous waste, spill prevention, storm water, and wastewater (i.e., TRI Reporting, SPCC inspections, wastewater discharge monitoring, NPDES reporting, monthly wastewater flow report for city, hazardous waste program, Air Quarterly Deviation, air emissions recordkeeping, oversight of LDAR program, etc.).
- Provide on-site health and safety support at client’s facility, such as training, review of change requests, incident investigations, and hazard reviews.
- Prepare technical reports and other deliverables.
- Achieve client’s expectations for scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
- Assist in the development of solutions to technical and regulatory issues and concerns.
- Design and implement corporate H&S strategies and programs for safety, compliance auditing, safety management systems, process safety and risk management, high-impact training, and general compliance support.
Requirements:
- BS/MS in environmental or chemical engineering, safety, occupational health, or related science degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in working with significant industrial clients on regulatory compliance and sustainable EHS compliance programs, with emphasis on the manufacturing and chemical sectors.
- Certification in field; PE, ASP, CSP, CIH, or similar registration is desirable but not required.
- Passionate about EHS performance improvement with substantial experience with practical implementation.
- Solid understanding of the relevant local, state, and federal regulations and how they apply to chemical manufacturing facilities.
