The Department of Medicine at The Aga Khan University Hospital, comprises of independent sections of Cardiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, , Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Neurology, and Pulmonary & Critical Care. The Department has over 70+ full-time Faculty with a strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate education and research. Residency Programmes are offered in Internal Medicine, Neurology, Adult Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Pulmonary Medicine, Nephrology and Dermatology, as well as Fellowship Programmes in Clinical Neurophysiology & Electrodiagnostic Medicine, Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism, Interventional Cardiology, Infectious Diseases, Gastroenterology and ERCP.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Instructor in Section of Gastroenterology, Department of Medicine.

Job Roles / Responsibilities:

The responsibilities will include:

  • Provide compassionate, ethical, evidence-based, and patient-centered care in the medicine setup.

  • Deliver inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology services under supervision.

  • Perform and assist in GI endoscopic procedures (diagnostic and therapeutic).

  • Collaborate in multidisciplinary care for complex GI and liver cases.

  • Teach and train undergraduate and postgraduate students as per curriculum standards.

  • Conduct and participate in clinical research in GI/Hepatology.

  • Support trainees (undergraduate and postgraduate) in research and academic work.

  • Supervise residents, medical officers, and trainees in patient care and procedures.

  • Conduct inpatient rounds and monitor clinical management.

  • Act as a liaison between faculty and residents when required.

  • Assist faculty in consulting clinics and clinical activities.

  • Help conduct examinations for undergraduate students.

  • Organize and participate in CME sessions, workshops, seminars, and training programs.

  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and performance improvement initiatives.

  • Contribute to institutional academic activities, conferences, and public awareness programs.

  • Undertake administrative responsibilities and support coordination across teams.

  • Mentor and guide trainees in professional development.

  • Contribute to residency, fellowship, and training programs.

Requirements:

  • MBBS with FCPS / American Board / MRCP (with GI training or equivalent).

  • Completion of house job and structured Medicine Residency Program.

  • Additional fellowship training (minimum 2 years) in a reputable institution OR strong academic contribution through research/publications.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with completed GI training

  • Strong clinical skills with ability to manage patients in diverse settings.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to satisfy and retain patients in clinical practice

  • Strong teaching and training skills.

  • Ability to deliver CME sessions and contribute to academic activities

  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams.
