Introduction:

Aga Khan University, chartered in 1983 as Pakistan's first private international university, is committed to the provision of education, research and health care of international standard relevant to Pakistan and the region. The affiliated Aga Khan University Hospital provides state-of-the art clinical facilities and well-equipped diagnostic services. The University currently has teaching sites in Pakistan, East Africa, the United Kingdom and Afghanistan, and is a major component of Aga Khan Development Network.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is the academic department of the University to support wide range of in-patient and outpatient care services pertinent to general obstetrics and gynaecology inlcuding lactation consultancy, family planning and parenting education. In addition to the core services, department also caters to wide range of specialised services of Maternal Fetal Medicine, Gynaecologic Oncology, Urogynaecology and Pediatrics & Adolescent gynaecology. The department also offers formal post graduate training programs of residency and fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine, Urogynaecology and Gynaecologic Oncology.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Resident Medical Officer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible to:

  • Perform regular duties and on calls and conduct rounds with Consultants in the assigned ward

  • Do pre-operative assessment and complete required paperwork

  • Coordinate with primary teams as required for continuity of care

  • Display effective and relevant documentation with quality record keeping of clinical notes, progress notes, and discharge summaries as indicated

  • Exhibit procedural skills in assistance and /or independently (where applicable) displaying the prudence and precaution that avoids potential complications

  • Ensure that patients are given correct post-operative medications / instructions and explain them about their health care needs

  • Remain updated on infection control procedures and follow the same accordingly.

Requirements:

You should have:

  • An MBBS degree with a valid PMDC License

  • Three months experience and/or one year internship/ housejob in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and allied disciplines

  • Candidates who have cleared part 1 FCPS and those who have completed their FCPS part 2 training requirement may also be considered.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work in teams as well as independently.
